The caffè Puck is a few meters away from the school in the Cathedral's square where the remains of the ancient Byzantine necropolis are still visible. You can have a nice time reading books surrounded by the scent of the various types of tea served at the tables. If you have homework to do and like staying outdoor, the Caffé Puck is your ideal place. If you are satisfied with your homework you can allow yourself to taste some good Sicilian wines or some cocktails served with appetizers. If you are disappointed by your work, ask for another glass of wine... maybe your memory shall be stirred up. The beach and the sea Milazzo is located at the beginning of a 6 km long peninsula and it is probably one of the few centres in the world overlooking the sea to the east and the west; this means that in Milazzo you can admire the sunrise as well as the sunset. The eastern side is a long cliff with a few accesses to the sea or with small stretches of sands which can be reached only from the sea by boat. Long sandy beaches are located on the western side of the peninsula, where you can enjoy the landscape of fantastic sunsets. The shore is ten minutes walk far from the school or the apartments. Beaches are public, but from the middle of June until the end of August they are organised with Lidos where you can rent beach umbrellas and beach chairs. Shopping Italian fashion is unique and if you want to observe what Italians buy when they get a new wardrobe and how they choose their clothes, spend your free afternoon going around the shops, which have a wide offer of high quality articles of clothing. The town centre is full of smart shops and even if you do not want to weigh down your suitcase, it will be nice to have a look at them even not buying anything. Nightlife If you have a walk around Milazzo, you will immediately notice it is a very young city. Numerous restaurants, disco bars and pubs are open and you can have a drink, listen to music and meet new people. They are located both in the new districts and in the old village around the Castle. For disco fans discos are open every day in summer or only in the week-ends in the remaining part of the year. Summer discos are outdoor by the sea and you can reach them on foot. Sport activities Tennis Within easy reach of the School, at the tennis and sail club it is possible to play tennis on two clay courts. If you are a tennis lovers you can organize matches with local players, bet a pizza and if you are good players... enjoy your meal! Gym Nearby the School there is a very well equipped gym. There you can keep fit and stick to the old Latin motto “mens sana in corpore sano” (a sound mind in a sound body). Dance If you prefer dancing you can attend the dance school and test yourself in a Latin-American dance or in an Argentinian tango. Diving Those who love the sea and do not only want to lie under the sun on the beach, shall find in Milazzo the possibility of diving in the wonderful uncontaminated seabed along the cliff reaching Capo Milazzo. In case you do not have the diving certificate you can join a course organised by Poseidon - the sports club of Milazzo - and obtain the relevant certificate after passing the exam. In order to attend the diving course your command of the Italian language shall be at least level B2 of the European Framework of Reference. |
